What's this?

Game Pops is a challenge to your knowledge in game music: listen to several game tunes and try to discover which games they belong to!


What platforms are the games from?

8-bit and 16-bit SEGA and Nintendo consoles: NES (Nintendo Entertainment System), Master System, Genesis/Mega Drive and SNES (Super Nintendo Entertainment System).

What are the rules?

- Game Pops is case-insensitive;
- the same game can appear in different platforms;
- various iterations of a franchise can appear. Example: Galactic Squadron 1 and Galactic Squadron 2.


What are the system requirements?

- A Java compatible browser;
- Java Runtime Environment version 1.4 or higher (download it here);
- broadband internet connection.

How do I play?

Fifty buttons will be displayed, each one associated to a text field. By clicking a button, you should hear the tune and then write the game name in the text field. If your guess is right, the background of the text field will become green. While the answer is wrong, it will remain red. Absolute and percentual scores will be shown at the top. Click below to play:
